Optimum pole number separation from circuit board connectors

It is becoming ever more crowded on printed circuit boards. In addition to reducing circuit board sizes, designers of printed circuit boards are increasingly placing components closer to each other. This also means that on printed circuit boards, connectors separated on pole numbers collide with the neighbouring component as a result of existing separation methods using cutting blades and a tolerance of up to 0.6 mm, and can no longer be accepted. Here, in the last three years, Fischer Elektronik has continuously expanded its pole number separation programme by means of a sawing technique to remove material. Through this, it has been possible to reduce length tolerances to 0.2 mm (max.).

Meanwhile, over 90% of the entire connector range is separated based on the number of poles desired by the customer. This is done using fully-automatic and semi-automatic special saw separators. The fully automatic machines are equipped with optical examination systems that monitor and examine the process and the finished component up to 100%. As a result, we have achieved an optimum quality improvement to the sawn strips, increasing our customer satisfaction significantly. .
