New female header series with further variant in SMD design
The new range of low profile female headers from Fischer Elektronik in a 2.54 mm grid spacing has been expanded by a new variant in an SMD design. Besides the already existing one-row and two-row designs, this adds the prone one-row design to the product range. The new design will be available from April 2016 with 2 to 20 contacts. Other numbers of contacts upon request. Two surface variants are available: tin-plated (completely) and selectively gold-plated (insertion side gold-plated, soldering area tinned). To provide a basis for the final plating, the entire contact is first coated with a galvanic nickel blocking layer. The production of the contact springs on a supporting strip allows the gold plating to be only applied selectively in the contact area. This helps to greatly economize on the gold applied. The soldering side is tinned. The contact springs are suitable for placing 0.635 mm square contacts or corresponding flat contacts.The insulators are made from highly temperature-resistant plastic that is suitable for SMT soldering processes. The contact springs with stable soldering area design are made from spring bronze. The insulator design ensures that the contact spring is completely covered, effectively preventing inadmissible touching or “incorrect plugging”.
