Small heatsinks for TO 5, TO 18 and similar
Cylindrical electronic components and TO 5, TO18, TO cases or similar may also be used in special applications, despite large-scale integrated circuits and SMT components. Dissipation of heat from these components is always a challenge, and additional measures are required to ensure effective dissipation. The use of 'cooling stars', i.e. small heatsinks formed from aluminium which are directly pressed onto the component and which ensure by the closeness of the press fit both good thermal and mechanical contact, is a simple and effective method of dissipating heat from these cylindrical components. In addition to various types of 'cooling stars' formed from aluminium, Fischer Elektronik supplies other types of heatsinks made from special bronze as well as small, extruded heatsinks which ensure effective heat dissipation for many different transistor designs.
